Pike Fishing Locations

Pike Fishing Locations

Pike are found in both rivers and lakes, although rivers are a more common location due to the abundance of water life. As pike are predators they require lots of smaller fish to eat, as well as cover to hide in such as reed and weed beds. Pike can be found in both fast flowing and still waters, although they tend to only feed in slow moving or still areas.

Below are several different water types which pike can be caught on. If you feel we are missing something out, or have a suggestion then please let us know here.

Rivers

Rivers are one of the most popular choices for pike fishing. With a large food source for pike and plenty of poaching spots you can guarantee pike will be somewhere close by. Pike are often found hiding in the margins such as on the edge of reed beds and underneath tree roots. The normal methods apply which are listed in our Pike Fishing Methods and Tackle Guide. When you are all setup and ready to fish cast out past one of the areas and reel in alongside them to tempt out any waiting pike!

Lakes

Fishing for pike on lakes is another location which many anglers enjoy. Again there must be an abundant source of food as well as plenty or margin cover in the form of reed beds, weeds, and snags such as holes and tree roots. Pike will lay and wait in these areas of cover for their prey, so setup and start luring them out!
